Diwata Komiks debuts Carmina Issue #1 Con-Exclusive Variant Cover by master artist, Romeo Tanghal at Comic-Con Special Edition

Press Release

Los Angeles, CA (November 26, 2021) – For comic book fans across the world, there is no Comic Convention as well-known as San Diego Comic-Con. After a year and a half of pandemic-related disruptions, the world-famous convention returns to in-person events starting today with Comic-Con Special Edition!

Filipino-American Comics Publisher Diwata Komiks celebrates this event with the release of a convention-exclusive Variant Cover of their flagship title Carmina: Beginnings by Inkpot Award-Winner Romeo Tanghal. Tanghal is a Filipino comics artist who worked as an inker and penciler on a large number of iconic Marvel and DC titles including Captain America, Fantastic Four, West Coast Avengers, Green Lantern, Justice League, and more. He became well known in the industry in the 1980s for his work on DC Comics' The New Teen Titans.

“I’m really excited to showcase this variant by Mr. Tanghal who brings such a classic feel to Carmina while creating an illustration that represents the other half of Carmina’s story – one focused on distinct elements from Philippine Mythology,” says Director of Community Engagement, Joe Arciaga.

Carmina Issue #1 Variant Cover by Romeo Tanghal will be available to preview at the convention floor with very limited copies available for immediate purchase (pre-order options are available). For fans unable to come to San Diego for the event, the variant cover will be available to purchase online for a limited period until the end of the convention on 11/29/21.
