Introducing: Komik Imports from the Philippines
In staying true to our mission to share Filipino Komiks with our audiences on this side of the world, we’re adding curated imports to our slate of titles to offer at the world’s largest comic convention – San Diego Comic-Con!
In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, we’re proud to share that we are bringing copies of the award-winning Doobiedoo Asks for younger readers! This highly-acclaimed title to date has won both international and local Philippine awards.
Lovingly created by the team behind Carnal Tales, writer Bambi Eloriaga-Amago and artist Roland Amago, Doobiedoo Asks is about the husband-and-wife duo’s autism journey with their son who is on the spectrum.
The book is semi-autobiographical in nature and chronicles the family’s journey through fear and apprehension, to understanding autism, and the eventual acceptance of the condition. The book highlights the importance of inclusion and proves true the old adage of love conquering all. It’s a graphic novel for all ages and can be appreciated by both adults and young readers alike!
Also making its North American debut is the collected edition of Tatsulok: A Vision of Dust. Tatsulok, or triangle in English, tells the story of the son of Lucifer and the son of Michael the Archangel teaming up to help Lora, a succubus besieged by demons.
The creative team behind Tatsulok is composed of Philippine komiks industry veterans with award-winning writer David Hontiveros taking charge of the story based on original concepts by Xerx Javier who also illustrated the comic series.
Fun fact, Trese creator Budjette Tan served as editor on the project. With themes of horror and elements of harsh language and sexual violence, the book is intended for mature readers.
These imported titles will be sold as is and will not feature any US-version enhancements. Doobiedoo Asks is published by Komiket while Tatsulok: A Vision of Dust is published by Alamat Comics from the Republic of the Philippines. These titles will be exhibited in partnership with their respective copyright holders.
