A New Carnal Tales Apparates Stateside This October
Coming just in time for Halloween, the second installment of the highly-anticipated Carnal Tales series from Diwata Komiks written by award-winning comics writer Bambi Eloriaga-Amago features a nightmare that’s all too real, an innocent creature that turns out to be not-so-innocent, and an alluring young lady who is not who she seems.
In Cautionary Tales, the first issue, featured blood-sucking creatures and other malevolent monsters, this time around, Carnal Tales: Apparitions will feature strange supernatural sightings in a small town. Still set in the author’s hometown in the Philippines, the release of the new issue also coincides with Filipino-American History Month where the Diwata Komiks team will be exhibiting and presenting at various libraries across Southern California to promote their diversity-focused titles.
“Whether you’re a new reader looking to discover horrors from Philippine folklore or someone wanting to reacquaint yourself with stories you’ve heard in your youth, there’s a tale here for you!” Writer Bambi Eloriaga-Amago enthusiastically states.
Carnal Tales: Apparitions will make its US debut at the 6TH Filipino-American International Book Festival at the San Francisco Main Library this Oct 15 and 16, followed by the Liwanag Lit Fest in Long Beach. It is illustrated by Roland Amago and is published by Diwata Komiks, a diversity-focused indie comics company featuring new myths with stories for and about immigrants, third-culture kids, and those just looking to belong.
